Coorparoo Quilters Hold 42nd Anniversary Quilt Show in  Belmont

Manly residents looking for a unique weekend outing are invited to a vibrant community event in nearby Belmont, where the Coorparoo Quilters will celebrate their 42nd anniversary with a spectacular biennial show.

Dubbed 42: A Fantastic Journey, the exhibition runs from Saturday 18 July to Sunday 19 July at the Belmont Shooting Complex.

Imagination stitched into reality

This year’s theme draws inspiration from science fiction, fantasy, and adventure. Visitors will be treated to more than 100 quilts and wall hangings reflecting creative interpretations of books, films, and imaginary worlds.

The event will also feature the Cosplay Youth Challenge, giving young makers an opportunity to showcase their talent alongside experienced quilters. Together, the displays highlight how traditional craftsmanship continues to evolve through contemporary design.

Missing Toowoomba Man Found Near Belmont Shooting Complex

A missing Toowoomba man has been found alive in bushland near the Belmont Shooting Complex on Old Cleveland Road. Police located the 43-year-old father on Monday afternoon and transported him to a Brisbane hospital.

The discovery ended a major two-day search that began when the man was reported missing after leaving a Cambooya property on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle on Saturday. The search intensified Monday morning after his motorcycle was found abandoned on Chelsea Road in Ransome, a relatively secluded area.

The search operation included police helicopters scanning Tingalpa Creek areas and dense bushland. Emergency services conducted extensive ground searches around Chelsea Road, an upscale area characterised by acreage properties.

Police had requested CCTV footage from the area over the weekend. According to Facebook posts, surveillance cameras had reportedly captured images of the man at several locations around Wynnum, including a pizza restaurant.

No further details about the man’s condition or the circumstances of his discovery have been released by police.
