What’s On in Manly Harbour Village for December

Manly Harbour Village welcomes the Christmas month with Manly Creative Markets, Jan Powers Farmers Markets, Free Movies in the Park, and a new oyster bar.

Manly Creative Markets, a place where local and regional creative talents showcase their craft or activity and entrepreneurial flair, happens on all five Sundays of December this year, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Amazing food, coffee shop, entertainment, kid’s rides, bakery, arts, crafts, plants, fresh fruits and vegetables, massage sessions, and even dog washes await families and peers at Little Bayside Park, Manly.

Jan Powers Farmers Markets, which happens every 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the months, is back on the 2nd and 16th of December. As always, stalls can be found at the Little Bayside park, right on the water adjacent to the Manly Harbour. The market has always been known for selling seasonal farm fresh produce, seafood, meats, cakes, breads, olives, spices, oils, honey, curry powders, coffee, and smoothies.

Bayside Brownie Company has started accepting orders for their four-piece brownie gift boxes. Pick up points are at both Manly Creative Markets and Jan Powers Farmers Markets.

Jim Carrey’s film in 2009, “A Christmas Carol”, is showing at this month’s Free Movies in The Park, which happens every Saturday of the month. The event runs until the 3rd of February 2018. Show starts at 9:00 p.m.

“A Christmas Carol” won the Kid’s Choice Awards for favourite Voice from an Animated Movie back in 2009. Here is an excerpt from the film’s synopsis:

“Though London awaits the joyful arrival of Christmas, miserly Ebenezer Scrooge (Jim Carrey) thinks it’s all humbug, berating his faithful clerk and cheerful nephew for their view. Later, Scrooge encounters the ghost of his late business partner, who warns that three spirits will visit him this night. The ghosts take Scrooge on a journey through his past, present and future in the hope of transforming his bitterness”.

Shucks Bar welcomes oysters lovers daily after a successful soft opening on 17th of November. The place offers fresh oysters from Australian waters, including rock oysters and pacific oysters, that are only shucked upon order, hence the bar’s name. The bar is located on the Esplanade at bayside Manly.

Celebrate Mothers’ Day 2017 in the Park at Manly Harbour

Bring mum and the whole family this Sunday, 14th May, to the Manly Harbour for a musical celebration of Mothers’ Day 2017 in the park. Program formally starts at 8:00 a.m. and will run until 3:00 p.m. There will be entertainment and promising performances for everyone to enjoy. Hosted by the Manly Creative Markets, attendance is absolutely free.

The WSHS Concert Band will perform at 9:00 a.m. to be followed by the WSHS Big Band at 9:30 a.m. Local musician Cody Miller performs at 10:00 a.m. followed by guest Sunnybank Brass Band at 10:30 a.m.  Other performers include the FAD (Fitness and Dance) at 11:30 a.m., Bayside Brass Band (12:00 p.m.), Momentum (1:00 p.m.), Queensland Performers Academy (1:30 p.m.), and the Bayside Brass Band (Int) (2:30 p.m.).

Apart from the wonderful musical entertainment, the harbour will also have special culinary offerings from many cafes and restaurants that will offer enticing Mothers’ Day menus. The Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (RQYS) will offer special menus for lunch (12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.) and dinner (6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.). Likewise, the Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club offers set menu and continental buffet breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. You can also enjoy their special “a la carte” meals for lunch (11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) and dinner (5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.). Due to this weekend’s high demand, bookings are highly recommended for these restaurants.

For something different from the usual fine dining, you can also simply grab cups of coffee or tea along with cakes, fish ‘n chips, or brownies. Sit down with mum for a Mother’s Day picnic at the Marina for a relaxing bayside view and Instagram-worthy photos. Do not forget to take a stroll along the market stalls. There are a lot of wonderful and affordable goods to spoil mum.

Manly Creative Markets on the Lookout for Stall Holders

Interesting highlights of the event include food stalls, bakeries, coffee shops, kids’ rides, entertainment, arts, crafts, plants, fruits and vegetables, massages, dog washes, and many more.

In line with the upcoming event, the Bayside Police-Citizens Youth Clubs (PCYC) and the Manly Harbour Village Chamber of Commerce are inviting interested parties to become a stall holder.
