Originally founded as a turning group in 1989, the club has grown as a multi-faceted organization. From its humble beginnings, the club now has over 100 members.

The club conducts instruction in Woodturning, Machinery /Box-making, Pyrography, Carving, Scroll saw and Intarsia. Individual members pursue various extensions of Clock-making, Ornamental Turning, Model-making and Weather-wall/clock combinations.

Facilities include a workshop of approximate 100sqm that was built in 2003 to accommodate the Machinery and Woodturning groups. In 2007 an extension was constructed to give storage room and a permanent place for the club trailer.

Club members have attended and demonstrated their talents at many local and charitable events, such as Working With Wood Show, Strawberry Festival, Spring Parade, and Birkdale Scout Fair, Morningside School of Arts Fair, and Jondaryan Woolshed Heritage Festival to name a few.
